Whistler has so much to offer in the summer time. From pristine lakes to worthwhile hikes with breathtaking views and even outdoor concerts. When there’s so much to explore from home, there’s no need to go anywhere else. As a local it feels good to take a break and truly enjoy what Whistler offers. For visitors, it’s nice to be connected to this beautiful mountain community. This is why the staycation is the perfect idea for any Whistler yogi. Here are our top suggestions to make your staycation a memorable one.

1.) Lounge on a patio

There’s something about sitting out in the sunshine that can make your heart sing. Our suggestions are Portobello’s in the upper village, Aura in Creekside, and Table Nineteen at Nicklaus North Golf Course. Aura and Table Nineteen both have gorgeous views while Portobello’s is perfect after strolling the farmer’s market on Wednesdays and Sundays. These restaurants also have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.

2.) Explore Something Outside the Box In Your Yoga Practice

Do you find yourself gravitating towards certain teachers or styles? Switch it up! If you love vinyasa try yin or restorative. Is there a new teacher you’ve seen on the schedule? Try their class and experience something new! It can feel good to get out of routine to gain new insight. We also suggest checking out Intention Evenings every Friday this summer. Each class has a specific theme that allows you to explore something outside of the regular class offerings to elevate your practice.

2.) Get Wanderlusting

Wanderlust is a festival full of yoga, music, curiosity, and exploration landing in Whistler from August 3rd – 6th. A staycation wouldn’t be complete without getting to know Whistler from a new perspective. Many of the events are outdoors while some are free including the community hoop jam at 12pm on Saturday, August 5th. (PS use the promo code “yogacarawhistler” at checkout for 10% off!)

4.) Check out an outdoor concert

See acts like Quixotic and Delhi 2 Dublin from Whistler Olympic Plaza all summer long! Dance your heart out at this free concert series. This event is family-friendly with support from Tourism Whistler. View the full schedule here.

5.) See an outdoor movie

Enjoy the outdoor movies put on by the Whistler Film Festival and Whistler Blackcomb! Each film takes place on a big screen next to the Creekside gondola. There is no official seating so bring blankets and lounge chairs. This family-friendly event is free! Check out the full schedule here.

There’s plenty happening in Whistler this summer. Find excuses to embrace every minute of it. Get out and stoke your curiosity!
